Suicide is on the rise among the youth. It is the one of the leading causes of death in late childhood and adolescents. Suicide begins when there is family stress and conflict, poor social skills, or low self-concept. Females have increased suicidal behaviors; whereas boys have increased suicidal fatalities. Psychologically the adolescent struggles with mental health disorders, coping skills, or substance abuse. Getting them involved with equine will give them the opportunity to belong and build self-esteem.
Several organizations like YMCA, 4-H, Boys and Girls Club, etc. have assisted the disadvantaged children in several areas. We want to be a part of this journey also. We are providing scholarships for any disadvantaged child to show at any location we have a show. Provide the horse and bring a child with you that doesn't have the ability to enjoy horses on their own, and we will cover the cost of their registration and classes. Please contact us for more information or questions and availability. Entries must be preapproved.
This foundation was created in loving memory of Deputy Christopher Johnson of Platte County, NE who died in the line of duty on August 29, 2009. He was my brother and best friend. It was a day I remember vividly. He was a fair, honest, caring officer that was about keeping the youth involved. He believed that mistakes occur and people just need a fair chance to make good decisions. When good role models were unavailable, he saw the struggles youth dealt with when making decisions. My father, Harry Neiman, was involved with horses all his life. He was drawn to children. He was the best life teacher and mentor a child could have.
